About the event

Epic tomatoes can be in your garden!  Learn what an heirloom tomato is and why they are so popular. Demystify terms like: open pollinated, hybrid, dwarf, potato leaf, determinate and indeterminate.  Tips will be given on variety selection for various growing conditions and best practices for plant care to set plants up for a successful and productive growing season.   Foster Hill Farm grows over 125 varieties of tomato starter plants in their greenhouses in Stafford, CT.  All varieties have been grown in their trial gardens.  Learn about some of their favorites.  Foster Hill Farm is open in May and will also be at the Ellington Farmers' Market.  Please note that this event is at Hall Memorial Library in Ellington.
